Abstract:

This study aimed to discover the effect of a counseling program based on behavioral theory in development and self-assertion skills among members of the General Federation of Jordanian Women, The program was based on a behavioral therapy, In order to achieve the objectives of the study, the study sample was selected. The sample of the study was consist of (30) of Members of the General Federation of Jordanian Women whom, obtained the lowest marks on the scale of self-affirmation skills. They were distributed into two groups: a controlling group of (15) members whom was not applied to the counseling program and an experimental group of (15) members whom was applied to the counseling program, the researcher used measuring instruments which are self-assertion scale for Rathus and counseling program. The results of the study showed that the counseling program was very effective in developing the skills of self-assertion among the sample of the study. The researcher recommends that consellors should be invited to use such programs and self-assertion is an important skill that can be improved.
